Brisbane Auctions
Below is a step by step guide to finalising the purchase of a vehicle from a Public Trustee Brisbane vehicle auction.
N.B Please refer to regional auctions (insert link) below for the process.
1. Go straight to the Cashier's Office and pay the $500 deposit.
- The Auction Office is located in the main building just outside the auction site. If you need to arrange a lease package or hire purchase on your new vehicle, the cashier can arrange for a tax invoice to be prepared and faxed directly to your finance company.
2. Obtain a quote for your registration and stamp duty costs.
- The registration counter is situated next to the cashiers counter. Please ensure that you either hold a current Qld Drivers Licence or relevant ID to obtain a CRN number to enable the vehicle to be registered in your name.
3. Organise the balance of your purchase price.
- The easiest way to pay the balance on the vehicle you buy is to make payment to our cashier on the day of the auction. The cashier will be available on site until 2.30pm on auction day. After this time you will need to make payment to any office of The Public Trustee throughout Queensland. A list of these offices is also available from the cashier.
- The deadline for the final payment on your vehicle is 12 noon on the first Wednesday after the auction.
- When paying, $21 should be added to the purchase price to cover the cost of providing a Security Interest Certificate. The registration and stamp duty costs should also be added to the cheque to enable one payment to our cashier.
- All cheques should be made payable to Public Trustee of Queensland.
4. Register your vehicle.
- After you have paid for the vehicle including the registration and stamp duty costs you proceed to the Registration counter to complete the vehicle registration. Please ensure that you have appropriate identification and your Public Trustee receipts.
- Once you have completed the registration you will be provided with a set of number plates and label.
5. Insure your vehicle.
- The insurance representative who is located on-site in the auction office can arrange your insurance. They can organise quotes on comprehensive insurance or help you with any other insurance needs you may have. Personal cheques are accepted.
6. Pick up your keys.
- Once you have registered your vehicle, proceed to the auction office and show the QFleet staff your Public Trustee receipt. You will then be supplied with the key/s to your new vehicle, enabling you to drive home. You will also be given the vehicle log book (if supplied) and any ancillary paperwork in relation to your purchase.
