Welcome to the latest edition of Serving Queensland. This year has been a challenging one for Queensland as we recovered from the flood and cyclone. In addition to supporting our clients during the disasters, The Public Trustee also made Enduring Powers of Attorney available free of charge for anyone affected by the disasters.

This offer is available until the end of 2011, phone 1300 360 044 to make your appointment.

We were pleased to support Carers Week 16-22 October. I’d like to thank our state’s hard-working Carers. Being a Carer is not easy and it often goes unrewarded.

Queensland’s second Grandparents Day 6 November is another opportunity to acknowledge important members of our community.

This year’s theme Grandparents Rock celebrates the role grandparents play in their families and their community.

As this is the last edition of Serving Queensland for 2011, I’d like to thank you for your support during the year and wish all of our clients and stakeholders a safe and happy festive season.

Warm regards

Raise awaerness of Elder Abuse

Helping to raise awareness of Elder Abuse

In association with The Australian Pensioners’ and Superannuants’ League (QLD) we have produced a new publication about Elder Abuse.

The booklet Let’s Talk About Elder Abuse contains real life examples of Elder Abuse and highlights the reasons why abuse happens, ways people can protect themselves and where to seek support.

We’d like to thank the Elder Abuse Prevention Unit and The Office of the Adult Guardian for their input into this publication designed to raise awareness of Elder Abuse in our community.

To download a copy of the publication visit www.pt.qld.gov.au/elderabuse or phone 1300 306 044 to order a copy.
