Private Administrator
| A Guide for Financial Administrators |
| The role of Financial Administrator for a person with impaired capacity is very demanding. To fulfil the role adequately, the person taking on this responsibility should possess sound financial skills, legal knowledge or access to legal support as well as time to attend to the duties of an Administrator. Often family members, close friends or relatives appointed to this position, consider it a compliment, but soon find the position of responsibility too great when combined with their everyday lives. The Public Trustee of Queensland has provided professional financial and legal assistance to Queenslanders with a decision-making disability for over 85 years and is conscious of the need for high level accountability in financial administration to achieve the best possible outcome for people with a disability. By providing this guide to private administrators, we are seeking to clarify the responsibilities of a Financial Administrator and provide methods, which will establish continuity throughout the industry. The guide covers many situations a private administrator may encounter, however each case will be different. Our Disability Support Unit is also available to assist. For further information please phone (07) 3213 9334 or email clientenq@pt.qld.gov.au. We are proud to produce this guide to help private administrators in their role. It is another illustration of our ongoing commitment to people with a disability and their communities. Download the Guide
