Public Trustee encourages women to plan for their future on IWD 2020
In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) on Sunday 8 March, the Public Trustee is reminding Queensland women about the importance of planning for their future, and the future of their loved ones.
Acting Public Trustee of Queensland and CEO Samay Zhouand said this year’s International Women’s Day theme of #EachforEqual is focused on advancing gender equality and represents a great opportunity to celebrate the human rights of all.
Mr Zhouand said “the Public Trustee is a strong advocate for women with a large percentage of women not only making up the majority of the workforce, but holding management positions across the agency.”
“Women in our society play an important role in our workplace, home and community, and we’re proud to be able to support women every day through our estate, trust and financial services,” he said.
“In recent years we’ve witnessed more and more women achieve incredible things. Many women today successfully balance careers, a busy social life as well as their family life, while others choose to live independently and/or raise children alone,” he said.
“International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the achievement of women as well as remind women to plan for their future, safeguard their assets and ensure they have plans in place for those they care about most.”
Mr Zhouand said no matter the circumstances, as people’s lives change it is important for all women and men to ensure they have a Will and an enduring power of attorney that is up-to-date and reflects their current situation.
“As life changes occur, it is important to update arrangements in order to provide clarity about who you wish to leave assets to, or will look after your family,” he said.
The Public Trustee supports more than 50,000 Queenslanders each year across a range of services and offers a free will-making service for all Queenslanders over the age of 18 through their network of 15 offices across the State. Many local solicitors also provide a valuable will-making service.
