Final grant round for Gladstone Foundation

8 September 2023

The Gladstone Foundation will run a final grant round to help the local community before winding up operations in 2024.

The Gladstone Foundation has provided more than $14.3 million from its trust for social infrastructure and service needs in the Gladstone region since 2011.

Mr Tim Griffin OAM, Independent Chair of the Board of Advice Members for the Gladstone Foundation said over the past 12 years, the Gladstone Foundation helped fund the delivery of an extensive range of projects through their grants program.

“The grants program provides significant funding support for legacy projects to enhance the liveability and sustainability to service thousands of people in the Gladstone community,” Mr Griffin said.

“Previous grant rounds have provided funding for the Calliope Rural Fire Brigade Facility Upgrade, South End Curtis Island Community Centre, a purpose-built Men’s Shed and a grant to the Salvation Army (Queensland) Property Trust for the construction of two buildings in the Phillip Street Communities and Families Precinct Gladstone.

Queensland Public Trustee, Samay Zhouand said the Foundation has done an amazing job in helping the local community.

“It is with deep gratitude I thank the Chair, Mr Tim Griffin OAM, and the Board of Advice Members for their commitment and their service to the Gladstone community,” Mr Zhouand said.

“The Foundation’s contribution to social infrastructure has provided stability and connection to the community of Gladstone and surrounding areas.

“They have absolutely fulfilled their objective and achieved what they set out to do over the past decade.”

The Public Trustee will provide a final grant round to the Gladstone Foundation to offer another opportunity for local groups to enhance the liveability and sustainability of Gladstone communities.

The Gladstone Foundation manages voluntary contributions made by infrastructure project proponents in Gladstone. These go into a trust fund overseen by the Queensland Public Trustee, who is responsible for the investment and distribution of foundation funds.

Mr Zhouand said Queensland Public Trustee has appreciated the opportunity to support the Gladstone Foundation and to share in its achievements over the last decade.

“The Gladstone Foundation will be wound down when Grant Round 8 is finalised. Details of the grant round will be released later this year.”
