Toowoomba regional stakeholder forum

This forum provided an opportunity for discussion with key service providers, academics and frontline professionals about the issues relating to elder abuse and how to further to help protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Panel speakers included:

  • Mr Samay Zhouand, CEO and Public Trustee of Queensland
  • Uncle Wayne Fossey, Chair of the Elder and Valued Persons Advisory Committee at the University of Southern Queensland and oversees Aboriginal Community Development in Toowoomba
  • Dr Kathy Reeves, Lecturer, elder abuse expert at the University of Southern Queensland
  • Ms Jody Currie, Public Trustee Regional Director of the Toowoomba area

What to do if you or someone you know is experiencing elder abuse

You are not alone. Support is available.

If you suspect that an older person you know is being abused, or if you are experiencing elder abuse yourself, call the Elder Abuse Helpline. Anyone can make the call and you can remain anonymous if you prefer.

The Elder Abuse Helpline provides confidential information, support and referrals to appropriate services including legal, community support and advocacy services.
