Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with a Disability opens in Brisbane

The long-awaited Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability has officially opened in Brisbane during Disability Action Week.

The enquiry will provide many opportunities for people to share their experiences, giving a voice to those with a disability and advocating for change.

The Chair of the Royal Commission, the Hon Ronald Sackville AO QC said the Royal Commission is the result of the tireless campaign by people with disability and their supporters.

This important event coincides with Disability Action Week from 15 to 22 September 2019. The Public Trustee is proud to support Disability Action week that aims to raise awareness, empower people and improve the inclusion of people with disabilities.

How the Public Trustee supports those with a disability

The Public Trustee provides independent and impartial services as an administrator or attorney to help those who due to age or disability need support to manage their finances.

Working with clients, families and other key people in their lives to ensure their views, wishes and preferences are taken into account, the Public Trustee works to promote and safeguard an adult’s rights, interests and opportunities.
