Through the eyes of our Customers

12 December 2021

It is through collaboration, dedication and holistic support that the Public Trustee customers reach their full potential and are supported to live happy, respectful and meaningful lives.

The Public Trustee is proud to share these customer stories through the launch of the 2020-2021 Social Impact Report.

Public Trustee customers like Colin* are inspiring examples of what is achieved when support networks, and multidisciplinary professionals work together to help customers achieve their goals.

The Public Trustee was appointed by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) to support Colin make decisions about his finances.

Colin, an avid gardener, resides in his family home, and due to health complications was unable to make it down the back stairs to his beloved garden.

Those caring and supporting Colin, noticed how saddened he had become without appropriate access to his garden.

Taking a collaborative approach to supporting Colins needs and wishes, the Public Trustee Trust Officer, Tony’s support network and Colin worked together to arrange for a series of works to take place to ensure Colin’s safe access to his garden, now and well into the future.

This case study is a true representation of the support, and perseverance of those who care for Colin. It’s a credit the entire team that worked together to ensure Colin could live life as he chooses.

The Public Trustee and CEO Samay Zhouand said the release of 2020-2021 Social Impact Report captures the day-to-day work of the Public Trustee and the impact on the lives of Queenslanders.

“It’s known, the best evaluation of an organisation’s success is captured in the stories and outcomes of its customers – customers like Colin,” he said.

“Often it’s through heart-breaking or difficult circumstances that the Public Trustee becomes involved with our customers.

“Whether it be through accident, injury or disability that has limited the decision-making capacity of a person or the loss of a loved one, the Public Trustee has been around for over 100 years to support Queenslanders through difficult circumstances with compassion, dignity, and respect.

“We are proud to share the case studies throughout the Social Impact Report, as they are the real-life anecdotes of our customers and they play an important role in informing areas for continual growth, improvement and advocacy,” Mr Zhouand said.
